PROJECT DESCRIPTION.

The Hamlet of Benalto was experiencing growth and their current wastewater treatment cells were not large enough to keep up. The lagoon was an old facility and had not seen improvements or upgrades for a long period of time. Tagish Engineering prepared a BCF grant application and was successful in obtaining funding to significantly upgrade the location and allow for growth to over 500 residents.

ENGINEERING HIGHLIGHTS.

The Building Canada Fund related projects were large projects with very aggressive timelines. Tagish Engineering was required to work extremely efficiently to ensure the project milestones were achieved throughout conceptual engineering to the commissioning of this facility.

Flow calculations of both the existing wastewater volume and also the proposed future developments needed to be estimated to help size the cells appropriately. As the facility was to be expanded several options were analyzed for the upgrade, to ensure best treatment layout, economical design, lowest land impact, and most efficient constructability.

The project was a multi discipline project and Tagish was responsible for coordinating and managing all sub-consultants which included land agents, shallow utility coordination, geotechnical engineering and testing, and legal land surveying. Tagish was able to compile a very competent team that worked very well together throughout the project.

Tagish had a dedicated construction team to ensure inspections, surveys, material testing, and contract administration was completed. This project was finished within the appropriate timelines and under budget.
