PROJECT DESCRIPTION.
To ensure safe, reliable utility operation the Town decided to upgrade all water and sewage facilities with entirely new SCADA system utilizing radio tower communication. The project had six locations including three water reservoir/pumping stations, the main sewage lift station, sewage treatment facility, and the old water treatment plant that is used as a main office and houses the bulk water fill station. Included in this project was emergency standby power at the main lift station and new bulk water filling equipment.
ENGINEERING & CONSTRUCTION HIGHLIGHTS.

Due to the complexity of the equipment and programming a design and build project concept was developed.
-
A package was developed that listed all the capabilities desired of the system and the design and construction process requirements.
-
The Town of Athabasca is located within the Athabasca river valley and therefore the topography and tall trees were extremely challenging for radio tower planning and installation
